Week eight of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) basketball season is underway with more conference action on tap. Conference play will continue after a week that saw several postponements, with several more coming this weekend due to COVID-19.

Norfolk State will open the week by playing host to North Carolina Wesleyan on Wednesday in a midweek non-conference tilt.

On Saturday and Sunday, Baltimore foes Coppin State and Morgan State will square off at MSU’s Hill Field House, where the Eagles will look to start 4-0 in the conference play. The series will feature Troy Baxter and Koby Thomas, the second- and fourth-leading scorers, respectively, in the conference.

Meanwhile, Delaware State and Norfolk State will face off in Echols Hall in a weekend twin bill in Norfolk, Va.

On Monday, Howard is scheduled to play host to Notre Dame at Burr Gymnasium for an afternoon contest on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Florida A&M was set to hit the road to face North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro, N.C. this weekend, while South Carolina State was to head to Durham, N.C. to face North Carolina Central, but those games have been postponed.

Florida A&M’s MJ Randolph was named MEAC Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, after finishing with a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double against South Carolina State. He also added five assists and three steals.

Coppin State once again dominated the weekly honors. For the fourth time this season, Anthony Tarke was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week. Tarke was a monster on the defensive side of the ball with 11 boards, six steals, and five blocks in the win over Delaware State. He also added eight assists. He logged another double-double with 13 points.

Tarke's eight assists matched a career high and his steals and block numbers were both career highs.

Tarke’s teammate, Kenan Sarvan, was named MEAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after scoring 12 points on 4-for-10 shooting from behind the arc and grabbing six rebounds.

Please note all games are subject to change.
