NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 12, 2021—
North Carolina A&T State redshirt senior Chanin Scott and
North Carolina Central junior forward Kiyana Brown were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today.
North Carolina A&T State’s Sean Kelly Darks was named Rookie of the Week, and
North Carolina Central sophomore Anissa Rivera was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Scott (G, 6-0, r-Sr., Charlotte, N.C.) averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in a pair of wins over South Carolina State, going a combined 14-for-27 (51.9%) from the floor. She had 17 points, six boards and two blocks on Saturday, before turning in a 14-point, nine-rebound, six-steal, five-assist effort on Sunday against the Bulldogs.
Brown (F, 6-1, Jr., Yanceyville, N.C.) recorded her first double-double of the season, and the second of her career, on Monday against North Carolina Wesleyan, dropping a game-high 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds. She shot 11-for-16 from the floor (68.8%), while also recording an assist, a blocked shot and a steal.
Darks (G, 5-8, Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio) averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of wins over South Carolina State, going a combined 10-for-25 (40%) from the floor and 4-for-8 (50%) from 3-point range. She led the Aggies with 19 points on Saturday, to go along with five rebounds and two steals, before Sunday’s 12-point, nine-assist, five-rebound, two-steal effort.
Rivera (F, 6-1, So., Capitol Heights, Md.) grabbed nine rebounds (six of which came on the defensive end), blocked four shots and grabbed three steals in an all-around defensive effort on Monday against North Carolina Wesleyan.

Hope Evans (Coppin State) had 10 points, five rebounds and five steals against Delaware State.
Aliyah Lawson (Coppin State) had 12 points in Tuesday’s game against Delaware State.
Jalynda Salley (Coppin State) grabbed 21 rebounds and blocked two shots against Delaware State.
Kiana Coomber (Delaware State) recorded a double-double on Tuesday against Coppin State with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Paris McBride (North Carolina Central) flirted with a triple-double against North Carolina Wesleyan, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with eight assists and seven points.
Trinity Klock (South Carolina State) had 19- and 16-point scoring efforts in a pair of games against North Carolina A&T State.
