The medical crisis impacting the nation and the world has caused sports across the globe to come to a standstill for the time being. For example, the Olympics scheduled for the summer of 2020 in Japan has been postponed until 2021.

While we wait on the sports world to get back on track, this is a good time to revisit the illustrious past of Morgan Athletics. Over the next few weeks we will tap into the archives for historic game recaps and stories.

Here's what happened on Dec. 7, 2016:

BALTIMORE, Md. --  Junior guard Tiwian Kendley recorded season highs with 40 points and 10 rebounds, freshman guard Stanley Davis hit a go-ahead free throw in overtime and Morgan State hung on to beat Manhattan 85-82 on Tuesday night.

The last time an MSU player has scored 40 points in a game was when Ernest Garrett posted 40 points on Dec. 19, 1955.

"The points are really not something that we're surprised at," MSU assistant coach Brian Ellerby said. "It's more that we want him to grow with shot selection and trusting his teammates and growing as a player.

"Because when you're a good offensive guy sometimes you miss shots, so you have to find other ways to put the ball in the basket. Driving the ball more, getting to the free throw line -- because he's a good free throw shooter - and for a guard he does rebound the ball as well. I'm happy we were able to score a little bit more than them and he had big numbers."

After seven lead changes and six ties in overtime, Manhattan's Aaron Walker Jr. dunked to tie it again at 82 with 49 seconds left, but Davis and Kendley combined for three free throws and the Bears led 85-82 with one second left. Walker got the ball on the next possession and his 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short.

The Jaspers led 35-34 at halftime and led 67-64 after Thomas Capuano's 3 with four seconds left in regulation when Kendley tied it with a 3 at the buzzer.

Junior forward Phillip Carr recorded his third double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while senior forward Kyle Thomas added 15 points. The Bears (3-6) made 27 of 43 free throws, while Manhattan was 7-for-12 from the line.

Zane Waterman matched his career-high with 23 points for Manhattan (2-7).

??Tiwian Kendley joined an exclusive club as he became just the fourth Bear to hit the 40 point benchmark in Morgan State school history ...
