GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina A&T State senior point guard Kameron Langley has been recognized by the NCAA for leading the nation in assists per game (8.0) during the 2019-20 season.
Langley also led the nation in total assists with 247 in 31 games played.
"It's a huge honor for me," Langley said. "Just knowing what I've been through to get to this point and that it's by a player from an HBCU. This award just doesn't go to me, it goes to my family, my coaches and teammates and the A&T community. I'm just blessed to be in the position I am at."
In a year of leading the nation statistically, it was also a year of breaking records for Langley and his dime dropping. The floor general shattered the school's single-season assist record (208), one he set the previous year.
He also broke the Aggies' all-time assist record (582) set by Thomas Griffis that stood for 28 years as well as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) all-time assist record previously held by Larry Yarbray (Coppin State, 622).
Langley currently stands at 632 career dimes with his senior season still left to play. He is 213 assists shy of cracking the top-25 in total assists all-time in NCAA history.
"We have one of the best PGs in the country here at N.C. A&T," head coach Will Jones said. "Congrats to Kam on his accomplishment. Good thing as a coach is that the best is yet to come!"
