DOVER, Del., July 9, 2020 -- After recording their best season in several years, head coach Dave Caputo and the Delaware State women's basketball program officially announce their signees for the upcoming season. The Lady Hornets add six players to their roster.
SHANNON DOZIER (5'11) SENIOR - Guard/Forward from Washington, DC.
Dozier transferred to Delaware State last year from Ole Miss and she redshirted the 2019-20 season.
Two seasons ago Dozier recorded a career high 13 points at #6 ranked Mississippi State. She also scored 11 points against #2 ranked University of Connecticut. Dozier started her collegiate career at Odessa Junior College (located in Texas). She competed there for two years before transferring to Ole Miss.
Dozier led her high school team, National Christian Academy, to an undefeated 32-0 season during her senior year.
She finished her high school career ranked as the #71 best player in the country at her position by ESPNW.
KIANA COOMBER (6'0) SENIOR – Forward from Fairbury, Illinois
Comber transferred from the University of Memphis. She sat out last season (personal reasons) and is eligible to play immediately in 2020-21 season.
Two seasons ago she recorded a career high 14 points (including 3 three-pointers) and seven rebounds at Coastal Carolina. She also recorded 11 points and nine rebounds vs. the University of Cincinnati.
Before joining the Memphis Tigers, Kiana Coomber played one year of basketball at the at Chipola Junior College in 2017. Her collegiate career started in 2016 at Loyola Chicago under WNBA Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes.
In High School, Coomber scored 1,733 career points for Prairie Central High School and was the 2016 Area Player of the Year during her senior season.
CHRISTY OJIDE (6'4) FRESHMAN – Center from Barcelona, Spain
Ojide was voted as one of the top Centers in Spain for the 2020 recruiting class. She plays for Club CB Igualada in Spain. English is her 1st language.
DAIJE HARRIS (5'8) GRADUATE STUDENT – Guard from Compton, California
Harris is a grad transfer from California State Bakersfield University. The California native will pursue her masters in Delaware State's Sports Management/Administration Grad program. Key games during her collegiate career include, scoring a career high 13 points vs. New Mexico State. Ten points at Stanford University. Also, another 10-point performance vs. UTEP.
In high school, Harris competed for the prominent Centennial High School home of plenty of notable alumni such as former NBA Player Arron Affalo in addition to hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre. During her senior season she racked up numerous accolades such as league MVP, first team All-League, first team All-CIF, first team All-Southern Section, and first team All-Area as a senior. Daije Harris averaged 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds during the 2015-16 season and her team won the league title during 2015-16 season. Harris graduated Centennial High School with high academic honors.
ASHLEY PRIMAS (6'1) JUNIOR – Forward from Detroit, Michigan
Primas is a transfer from Tennessee State. Her key games from last season include 11 points vs. Murray State and a 10-point, six-rebound performance vs. Austin Peay.
In high school, she played at Cass Technical before transferring to Edison. She helped Cass Technical to a 24-1 record and a back-to-back Class C championship title. before transferring to Edison. The Michigan native averaged 12.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Cass Technical HS and was an All-City selection. Her father Charles Primas is an alumnus of Delaware State University, he played football for the Hornets and graduated in 1987.
DANIA CANNON (5'5) FRESHMAN – Guard from Georgetown, Delaware
Cannon is a recruited walk on from Cape Henlopen High School. She was one of the top high school players in the state of Delaware last season.
She finished her career with 1,049 points and was named conference player of the year. In addition, she was named 2nd team All State. She is the sister of Kevin Larkin, former DSU men's basketball player during the 2018-19 season.
