DOVER, Del., May 29, 2020 -- Delaware State head women's bowling coach Elysia Current has announced that three high school seniors have signed to attend the university and compete for the Hornets.
Alyssa Breidegam (Reading, Pa.), Kiley Hackbart (Bristol, Pa.) and Saralyne Nassberg (Modesto, Cal.) are expected to join the team for the 2020-21 season.
Breidegam was a standout at Governor Mifflin High School and brings extensive junior national experience to the Hornets. She was tops among all sectional competitors with a 227 average during her senior season, highlighted by a top three-game series of 761.
Breidegam also led Gov. Mifflin to a Pennsylvania sectional championship and state tournament berth this past season. She also posted a perfect 300 game in junior league play in the past year.
Nassberg, of Downey HS, finished third in the junior nationals (U15) finish in 2017. She was also the second youngest female to roll a 300 game in her local region.
Hackbart helped lead Truman High School to a Pennsylvania State Tournament berth this season, although the tournament was not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We are fortunate to sign young ladies of this caliber, especially given the recruiting challenges posed by the virus this spring," Current said. "Alyssa, Kiley and Saralyne are outstanding talents and solid students who will no doubt be good fits for the team and our university."
Delaware State must replace three seniors from its 2019-20 women's bowling team, including National Tenpin Coaches Association First Team All-America and MEAC Bowler-of-the-Year Alexis Neuer.
