GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina A&T State women's basketball added three new players to the roster for the 2020-21 season. With the six new recruits they announced in November, the Aggies will bring in nine new additions to try to bring home another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title.

On Tuesday, N.C. A&T head coach Tarrell Robinson announced Asjah Innis (5-8, G, Suwanee, Ga., Collins Hill HS), Chanin Scott (6-0, G/F, Charlotte, N.C., Myers Park HS) and Jada Smith (6-0, F, Cary, N.C., Cary, N.C.) as the newest Aggies.

"My staff and I are happy to have put the finishing touch on our 2020 class," Robinson said. "Losing one of the best group of seniors we've had in our time being here, it was important to replace them with young women capable of meeting and exceeding the standards set by them. We set out to find pieces to an already impressive class. We brought in more versatility, athleticism, size and toughness on the defensive end."

Innis is an incoming freshman from the Peach State and was a first-team all-region all four years. She was named all-state in her junior and senior seasons and is a top-50 player in the state of Georgia. She recorded the most assists in a single game last season. She was named the North Fulton All-State Game MVP, earned a spot on the GACA All-Star team and secured a place on the All-Georgia Metro team.

"We were thrilled when Asjah made the decision to join the Lady Aggie family," Robinson said. "She is a good player who comes from one of the best high school programs in the state of Georgia. She has the ability to change the game on both ends of the floor. Being able to create offense for herself and teammates will be beneficial for our program as we move forward. Having another point guard who can score only makes that position harder guard."

The final two signees are both transfers. Smith is a transfer from Long Beach State, while Scott is a graduate transfer from Georgia Tech.

Smith played limited minutes during her freshman season at LBSU. She played in five games for a total of 20 minutes. She led the Cary High School Imps to a 20-9 record overall and a 14-0 mark in the conference her senior season as the Imps captured the regular-season championship. Smith went on to lead Cary a runner up finish at state regionals. She averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. She should also bring an academic prowess to the Aggies program after earning N.C. High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) scholar athlete status.

"Jada is one of those pieces to the puzzle that we need," Robinson said. "Her ability to play 15 feet away from the basket will be key to our offense. She can defend multiple positions which plays in our favor as a defensive team. She's shown herself to be a selfless teammate and that adds to our program's values."

In three seasons at Georgia Tech, Scott recorded 545 points, 382 rebounds, 88 steals, 76 assists and 20 blocks while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor. In her last season, Scott recorded 158 points, 103 rebounds, 30 assists and 29 steals while shooting 49.3 percent from the floor.

"Chanin is a hardworking student-athlete," Robinson said. "Her ability to effect the game both offensively and defensively will be key to our team. She brings athleticism and toughness to that guard and forward position. Most importantly, she brings experience and leadership to our program which will be key with so many new faces."

Innis, Scott and Smith join Sara Aumer (6-4, C, Acme, Pa., Connellsville Area HS), Zikeyah Carter-Ransom (6-5, C, Waverly Hall, Ga., Harris County HS), Sean Kelly Darks (5-8, G, Cincinnati, Ohio, Walnut Hills HS), D'Mya Tucker (5-11, G, Orangeburg, S.C., Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS), Crystal White (5-11, F, Chesapeake, Va., Western Branch HS) and Nina Worthey (6-1, F, North Plainfield, N.J., Roselle Catholic HS) on the 2020-21 roster.
