Bethune-Cookman 70, North Carolina A&T State 50

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --
Amaya Scott had a double-double, leading three Lady Wildcats in double figures on Saturday at historic Moore Gymnasium as Bethune-Cookman dominated visiting North Carolina A&T State 70-50.

B-CU (16-5, 8-1 MEAC) stays in a tie with Norfolk State atop the standings.

Scott had 15 points and 10 rebounds on the afternoon, while Ashanti Hunt also had 15 points and four steals. Daniella Hatcher added 14 points as the Lady Wildcats swept the regular-season head-to-head over the Aggies.

B-CU led 41-32 at the break before coming out of the gate hot in the third quarter, using a 10-0 run to take a 51-32 lead after a Hatcher 3-pointer. In all, the Lady Wildcats outscored the Aggies 21-10 in the third quarter, opening the game up before going cold in the fourth.

Both teams scored just eight points in the final frame.

Jayla Jones-Pack led NCAT (15-7, 7-3 MEAC) with 12 points.

Howard 82, Florida A&M 56

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --
Guards Gia Thorpe and Iyanna Warren combined for 38 points in the Bison's 82-56 win at Florida A&M inside the Al Lawson Center on Saturday.

With the win, Howard improved to 14-9 (6-4 MEAC) on the year while sweeping the Rattlers.
 
Thorpe and Warren each had career days scoring the rock. Thorpe led all scorers with 20 points on 50 percent (6-of-12) shooting, while the Maryland native produced a career-best 18 points off the bench.
 
The Bison dominated the Rattlers from nearly start to finish, outscoring FAMU in all four quarters.
 
Howard attacked the rim at-will while getting to the charity stripe, shooting 81 percent (34-for-42) from the free throw line, including 94 percent (16-for-17) in the fourth quarter.
 
Freshman Makayla Minett also had a career performance, flirting with a double-double (11 boards and nine points). Second-year forward Krislyn Marsh added 15 points and senior guard Ayonna Williams netted 12 points in the win.

Maryland Eastern Shore 71, Morgan State 61

BALTIMORE, Md. --
Maryland Eastern Shore put together its most complete game of the season on Saturday at Morgan State, taking control of the game in the third quarter and withstanding the Bears' late flurry to leave Hill Field House with a 71-61 win.

The Shore outrebounded Morgan 45-31, shot 47 percent from the field, 31 percent from behind the arc, 94 percent from the free throw line and had five players reach double figures in scoring.

Freshman Mya Thomas was 4-for-4 and Dayona Godwin was 5-for-6 as they scored the team's final nine points from the free throw line after Morgan State started fouling immediately down by five points with 43 seconds left.

Adrienne Jones had a very efficient 20 minutes off the bench in her home town with 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists on 6-of-12 shooting.

Makayla Adams had 10 points -- including a pair of threes -- to go with two rebounds and an assist.

Godwin, a senior, finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Norfolk State 65, Delaware State 57 (OT)

NORFOLK, Va. --
Cam Platt-Morris sank a clutch game-tying 3-pointer with five seconds left in regulation, propelling Norfolk State to a 65-57 overtime victory over Delaware State at Echols Hall on Saturday evening.

The win kept the Spartans tied with Bethune-Cookman at the top of the MEAC standings.  

The Spartans (14-8, 8-1 MEAC) were in the midst of an 8-2 run before Platt-Morris' game-tying shot, digging themselves out of a 51-42 hole with 4:39 left in the game. Platt-Morris went 3-of-4 in the final quarter and 1-of-2 from deep, scoring seven of her 14 total points.

The Spartans utilized the momentum from Platt-Morris' game-tying shot, and went on to outscore the Hornets (9-12, 5-3 MEAC) 12-4 in the overtime period by holding them to shoot 0-of-5 from the field. The Spartans were great from the free-throw line in OT, going 9-of-10 (90 percent) to ice the game.

La'Deja James led the Spartans with 27 points, while also adding four rebounds, five assists and four steals. Platt-Morris scored 14 points and had the biggest basket of the game, but she also added five rebounds and a steal. Mikaela Jones was one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 11 points and snagging nine rebounds.

Blaire Thomas had an off night offensively, but was her usual self on the glass with 13 rebounds.

North Carolina Central 58, Coppin State 44

BALTIMORE, Md. --
Junior guard Kieche White scored a game-high 20 points and senior forward Paulina Afriyie tallied her seventh double-double of the season in leading North Carolina Central to a 58-44 win at Coppin State on Saturday.
 
It was arguably NCCU's best defensive effort of the season with a 50-33 rebounding advantage, eight blocks and holding CSU to just 20.3-percent shooting from the field. The 44 points allowed by the NCCU defense is also a season-low amount.
 
In the battle of two Eagle programs, Coppin State only trailed by five points in the fourth quarter before NCCU closed out the game on an 18-9 run.

The other three starters all contributed throughout the contest. Sophomore Ashlyn Lockard logged nine points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Junior Zaria Atkins netted eight points, dished out five assists and came up with two steals.

Freshman Anissa Rivera was held to just three points, but she matched Afriyie for game-high rebounding honors with a dozen boards.
