NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 20, 2020--As conference play heads down the homestretch, there was some more shake-ups at the top of the standings this past weekend that have the potential to make for an exciting race heading into the tournament.
 
SATURDAY’S GAMES
After beating Morgan State and Coppin State to reclaim the top spot in the conference, Norfolk State will head down to Florida as the Spartans look to extend their three-game winning streak against Florida A&M.
 
After seeing its six-game winning streak snapped in a loss to archrival North Carolina A&T State, North Carolina Central slipped to third place and will look to rebound; the Eagles will welcome Maryland Eastern Shore to Durham, N.C. The Eagles own the best home record in the conference, going 8-0 in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
 
Coming off a big win over rival North Carolina Central, second-place North Carolina A&T State will host Howard.
 
The Rattlers, meanwhile, will look to remain undefeated at Al Lawson Center this season – where they are 6-0 this season. Delaware State will visit Coppin State and Bethune-Cookman will play host to South Carolina State.
 
MONDAY’S GAMES
Howard will travel to Durham, N.C. to visit North Carolina Central to wrap up the Bison’s trip through the Tar Heel state.  Fourth-place Morgan State will welcome Delaware State to Baltimore and Bethune-Cookman will visit Norfolk State.
 
North Carolina A&T State will host Maryland Eastern Shore and Florida A&M will host South Carolina State.
 
AROUND THE MEAC
North Carolina A&T State has won 23 straight home games at Corbett Sports Center.
 
North Carolina A&T’s Kameron Langley had his second career triple-double, including a career-high 13 assists, against North Carolina Central. He is the only Div. I men’s player in the country with more than one triple-double this season, and he needs just 13 assists to break the Aggies’ all-time record.
 
Langley was named MEAC Player of the Week earlier this week, with Maryland Eastern Shore’s De’Dhawn Phillip repeating as Rookie of the Week and Bethune-Cookman’s Cletrell Pope taking Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
MILESTONES
Howard’s CJ Williams has scored 2,272 career points and is just four points away from becoming the MEAC’s all-time leading scorer.
 
Coppin State’s Andrew Robinson has knocked down 86 3-pointers this season, which is already sixth-most in Coppin State single-season history. His 257 attempts are just four shy of Keith Carmichael’s school record, set back in the 1994-95 season.
 
Florida A&M’s Nasir Core dropped a career-high 29 points in the win over Delaware State.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore defeated Bethune-Cookman this past Saturday for the first time in three seasons.
 
Norfolk State’s Steven Whitley scored 11 points to break 1,000 for his career, becoming the 37th player in program history to accomplish the feat.
 
North Carolina A&T State’s Ronald Jackson poured in a career-high 28 points in the win over North Carolina Central.
