MEAC Announces Weekly Men's Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 18, 2020 North Carolina A&T State’s junior forward Kameron Langley has been selected by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) as this week’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. Joining him on the MEAC Weekly Honors list are senior center Cletrell Pope of Bethune-Cookman (Defensive Player of the Week) and freshman guard Da’Shawn Phillip of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (Rookie of the Week).
 
Langley (F, 6-2, Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) recorded his second career triple-double in a 77-60 win over then-first place North Carolina Central, which included a career-high 13 assists. He now sits just 13 assists shy of breaking the all-time record at North Carolina A&T State. He finished the game with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists making him the only player in Division I with multiple triple-doubles this season.
 
Pope (F/C, 6-9, Sr., Northport, Ala.) averaged 14.5 points and 15.5 rebounds last week for the Wildcats as they went 1-1 with a win over Delaware State. In the win over the Hornets, Pope was 7-for-8 from the floor and finished the game with 19 points and 16 rebounds. He now has 14 double-doubles on the season after recording 10 points and 15 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Phillip (G, 6-5, Fr., Baltimore, Md.) averaged 15 points and five rebounds to help the Hawks go 2-0 over the weekend with wins over Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. In the win over Florida A&M, he finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
 
Other Top Performers
Isaiah Bailey (B-CU) made two free throws with six seconds remaining to lift the Wildcats to the win at Delaware State. He was 12-for-13 at the free throw line and finished the game with 16 points.
 
Joe French (B-CU) finished the weekend with 19 points and four rebounds, including 11 points against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Andrew Robinson (CSU) finished the weekend with 32 points and made 10 3-pointers.
 
Brendan Medley-Bacon (CSU) averaged 11.5 points and 10.0 rebounds last week as the Eagles dropped two games.
 
Rob Milton, Jr. (FAMU) averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals as the Rattlers went 1-1 last week. He shot 54.3 percent from the floor, including going 9-for-14 from the field against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Jermaine Bishop (NSU) tied a season high in points with 24 and a career high in 3-pointers with six in the Spartans’ win over Coppin State.
 
Tyrese Jenkins (NSU) made a career-high three 3-points in the Spartans’ win over Coppin State.
 
Steven Whitley (NSU) grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds and surpassed 1,000 career points against Coppin State, while also recording his second double-double of the season.
 
Ronald Jackson (NCAT) scored 28 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a shot in the Aggies’ win over North Carolina Central.
 
Rayshawn Neal (SCSU) averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 assists and six rebounds leading South Carolina State to a 1-1 record last week.
