NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 17, 2020 – Florida A&M’s Jamesia Stoudemire was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
North Carolina A&T State’s Kayla Brown was selected as Pitcher of the Week and
Howard’s Luz Aguilasocho was selected as Rookie of the Week.
Stoudemire (OF, Sr., Lake Wales, Fla.) hit .417 last week with eight hits, including a double, solo home run and an RBI in five games at the Bubly Invitational. Against No. 8 Florida, Stoudemire had two hits in three at-bats, including a leadoff home run to give the Rattlers an early lead. For the weekend, she finished with a .706 slugging percentage.
Brown (P, Fr., Detroit, Mich.) went 1-0 last week in two games, recording an 0.00 ERA. She gave up three unearned runs and allowed just eight hits in 7.2 innings pitched.
Aguilasocho (C/IF, Fr., Bakersfield, Calif.) had a career-high four RBIs in the Bison’s win over Mount St. Mary’s. She finished the weekend with five hits and five RBIs.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Victoria Guzman (B-CU) threw 10.2 innings over the weekend and finished with a 1.31 ERA. She recorded eight strikeouts and allowed just four earned runs in two games.
Ndia Senteno (FAMU) tossed two complete game in the Buble Invitational and pitched 12.1 innings with two stakeouts and a team beast 4.28 ERA. She allowed only eight runs over the weekend. In the final game against #8 Florida on Sunday she allowed just two runs on since hits.
Kalita Dennis (HOW) has a season-high three RBIs against Bucknell and is currently on a five-game hitting streak.
Brooke Thomas (HOW) earned her first collegiate win over Mount St. Mary’s, striking out a career-high four batters.
Aliya Ewell (MSU) went 5-for-13 (.385) with two RBIs and a walk at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon.
Katarina Delph (MSU) batted .333 for the opening weekend, finishing with four hits, two runs scored, an RBI and two walks during the Phoenix Invite.
Stephine Williams (NCAT) batted .400 over the weekend, collecting six hits, including three doubles, with four RBIs and a run scored. In the Aggies’ win over Rhode Island, she went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Jordan Robinson (MDES) batted .375 over the weekend and scored three runs. She went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in the Hawks’ first victory of the season against Buffalo.
Nasya Goodman (MDES) pitched a complete game against Buffalo with seven strikeouts. She also pitched five innings of relief against Oakland, giving up just two hits and no runs.
