MEAC Women's Hoops Heading into Third Week of Action

As the 2020-21 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) women's basketball season enters its third week, there are currently seven games on the docket -- including the season opener for perrennial contender North Carolina A&T State.

This past week saw Morgan State improve to 2-0 on the season with a 65-57 home win over Saint Peter's, while Delaware State won its season opener, 58-51 over Rider.

North Carolina Central's Anissa Rivera had a 19-point, eight-rebound, five-block performance on Monday against High Point, earning her MEAC Player of the Week honors, presented by Coca-Cola. Morgan State's Nina Carpenter had eight boards and five blocked shots against Saint Peter's, and she was named Defensive Player of the Week.

North Carolina A&T State will finally open its 2020-21 season on Monday, taking on crosstown foe UNC Greensboro. Howard is slated to play three times this week, including home games against UMBC on Thursday and George Washington on Sunday.

South Carolina State is currently slated to play host to UNC Asheville on Saturday.

Norfolk State and North Carolina Central are also slated to play once this week, both on the road; the Spartans will head to Wake Forest on Sunday, and the Eagles are set to visit Appalachian State on Monday.

Coppin State was scheduled to take on Saint Peter's (Pa.) on Tuesday, but the pause in all program activities means the Eagles' next scheduled game is Wednesday, Dec. 16 at UMBC.
