MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 22, 2020 — A trio of student-athletes from Howard University are among the recipients of this week’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors, presented by Coca-Cola, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
Sophomore guard Khalil Robinson of Howard is the MEAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while teammate Sam Green, a graduate student forward, is the Co-Defensive Player of the Week along with Morgan State junior guard Malik MillerSteve Settle III, a redshirt freshman forward at Howard, is the Rookie of the Week.
 
Robinson (G, 6-0, 160, So., Columbia, S.C.) had a career night in Howard’s victory over rival Hampton on Friday while flirting with a triple-double, finishing with 19 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. He was 4-for-7 (57.1%) from the floor and 11-for-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line.
 
Green (F, 6-6, 230, Gr., Bowie, Md.) produced his first double-double as a Bison in the win over Hampton, grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 13 points while blocking three shots.
 
Miller (G, 6-4, 191, Jr., Washington, D.C.) continues to be a standout for Morgan State, racking up 17 rebounds (6.5 avg.), five steals (2.5 avg.) and two blocks (1.0 avg.) in the Bears’ six-point win over Delaware and six-point loss to West Virginia Tech. He also averaged 12.0 points during the week.
 
Settle (F, 6-10, 175, r-Fr., Glenarden, Md.) recorded his first double-double in the Bison’s victory over Hampton, recording 18 points and 12 rebounds. He added two assists, two blocked shots and one steal in a contest that saw him shoot 50 percent (6-for-12) from the field and 85.7 percent (6-for-7) from the line.

Anthony Tarke (CSU)
 scored 19 points with four steals and two rebounds in the Eagles’ loss to Virginia Tech.
 
Pinky Wiley (DSU) averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in losses to Coastal Carolina and Georgia Tech. He had a DSU single-game high 19 points in the CCU contest.
 
Troy Baxter (MSU) had a game-high 22 points with four rebounds and two blocked shots as the Bears defeated Delaware in the teams’ first-ever meeting. For the week, Baxter averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots.
 
Quinton Jones (NCAT) averaged 16.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in a week that saw the Aggies defeat Greensboro College and fall to Charlotte.
 
J.J. Matthews (NSU) tallied 24 points and four rebounds in the Spartans’ loss to UNC Wilmington.
