With nearly a month already in the books, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 2020-21 women's basketball season is starting to take shape, with all eight teams now having played at least one game and Howard emerging as a potential early-season favorite.
The Bison sit at 3-0 after comeback victories over La Salle and George Washington this past week, while Morgan State is 2-0 after opening its season with wins over UMBC and Saint Peter's.
Howard's Kaiya Creek was named MEAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for her performances in the La Salle and George Washington games, averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds a contest in those two victories and dropping 23 points against GW.
North Carolina A&T State's Jayla Jones-Pack, who had six blocks and three steals against UNC Greensboro, was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Coppin State, which has had its last four games canceled, is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday at UMBC, while Norfolk State is set to come off its own extended break on Sunday when the Spartans play host to William & Mary.
Howard is set to play host to Navy on Wednesday, before Morgan State does likewise on Friday. Delaware State, which opened its season almost two weeks ago with a win over Rider, is currently set to play host to Lincoln (Pa.) on Wednesday before hitting the road on Monday to take on George Mason.
North Carolina A&T State, which opened its season on Monday, is set to play twice this coming week: playing host to Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday and Elon on Sunday.
