BALTIMORE – Coppin State women's tennis player Christy Turner has been selected as one of eight Angelos Scholars with the University of Baltimore School of Law for 2021, it was announced last week. The Angelos Scholar Program is designed to assist qualified students and alumni into gaining admission to law school and ensure they are well prepared once enrolled.

"I am extremely honored to be selected as an Angelos Scholar," Turner said. "This opportunity is an example of my dedication and perseverance to accomplish my career aspirations of becoming an attorney. With the guidance and LSAT preparation provided by the Angelos Program faculty, it is my goal to receive a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Baltimore School of Law. I want to thank the Fannie Angelos Program Selection Committee as well as my Coppin State University professors and advisors for recommending me for this life-changing opportunity."

Turner will attend a 2-week residential Bootcamp from January 10-21 at UB School of Law where she will take an LSAT Award Prep course and earn academic credits for successfully completing the Program.

Upon completion of the program, Turner will receive a full tuition scholarship, valued at over $90,000 for the three to four years she would attend the UB School of Law. Turner will also need to record a 3.5 cumulative undergraduate GPA, score at least a 152 on the LSAT and be admitted to the UB School of Law.

Turner transferred to Coppin after playing two seasons at Savannah State University where she was a member of the SIAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team.  She was also her team's NCAA SAAC Representative, participated in SSU's Leaders in Training program and was a Community Outreach through Preventative Education (C.O.P.E.) Leader.

Prior to Savannah State, Turner was the top-ranked 5A player in Georgia during the 2018 season.
