WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 3, 2020 – The Howard University Department of Athletics continued its "Bison 5@5" series where a member from the HU community is asked five questions within five minutes.
This week's guest features one of the nation's top sharpshooters senior guard Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) from the women's basketball team, who was interviewed by senior journalism major Arthur Cribbs.
Recently, Thornton was named to the 2020-21 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason First Team after finishing top 25 nationally in three-pointers made. In her collegiate career, the two-time MEAC All-Conference selection has played 87 contests (59 starts) with 14 20-point performances, including a 33-point outburst at Savannah State (March 2, 2019) where she set a new school single game record in three-pointers made.
Entering her senior campaign, the New Jersey native is only 35 points shy of joining the exclusive 1,000-point club.
