Coppin State Women’s Basketball to Hold Virtual 'Mask'erade Ball

BALTIMORE – In support of the Coppin State's women's basketball team, the Eagles will hold a Virtual 'Mask'erade Ball at 7:30 pm on Friday, Nov. 20. Access to the virtual event, which will feature several guest speakers including former NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith and WNBA All-Star Kristi Toliver, costs $25.

Chloe Pavlech of Overtime WBB will emcee the event.
 
The 'Mask'erade Ball will celebrate the rich history of Coppin State women's basketball as former players, coaches and fans come together with first-year head coach Laura Harper and the 2020-21 Eagles roster. Coppin tips off its season at Penn State on Wednesday, Nov. 25 before hosting La Salle on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.

Guest Speakers
Torrey Smith: A two-time Super Bowl Champion wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens (Super Bowl XLVII) and Philadelphia Eagles (Super Bowl LII), Smith was a two-time All-ACC performer at Maryland before being drafted by the Ravens in the Second Round of the 2011 NFL Draft.  In eight NFL seasons, where he was also a member of the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers, Smith caught 319 passes with 41 touchdowns and still holds several Ravens rookie records. Smith was a three-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee and hosts 'The Opening Drive' on SiriusXM, as well as a podcast, 'Trending Thoughts with Torrey Smith,' where he reflects on current events, his NFL experience and speaks with survivors of domestic violence. Smith, and his wife, Chanel, now run the Torrey Smith Family Fund.
 
Kristi Toliver: A teammate of CSU head coach Laura Harper at Maryland, Toliver helped the Terrapins to a 2006 National Championship as a freshman and was named the ACC Player of the Year as a senior in 2009.  Drafted with the third overall pick of the 2009 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky, Toliver is a three-time WNBA All-Star (2013, 2018, 2019) and won WNBA Championships with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2016 and Washington Mystics in 2019. With the Sparks in 2012, Toliver was named the WNBA's Most Improved Player and earned a spot on the All-WNBA Second Team.
 
Chloe Pavlech: 'The Duchess of OvertimeWBB,' Pavlech hosts Overtime's Snap Original "Hype School" and has served as a women's basketball analyst for the B1G Network, ESPN and American University.  Pavlech was a four-year standout at Maryland where she was an ACC All-Freshman Team recipient, played in the 2015 Final Four and was a team captain.  Pavlech also was a Player Development Coach at University of Connecticut from 2016-18.
