BALTIMORE, Md., Oct. 1, 2020 -- Former Morgan State women's basketball great Corin "Tiny" Adams was announced as the new assistant coach for the Loyola University Maryland men's basketball program on Thursday.

Adams will be one of two female assistant coaches at the NCAA Division I level for the 2020-21 season, joining Edniesha Curry of the University of Maine. She becomes the sixth woman in Division I history to serve as an assistant coach, following in the path initially blazed by Bernadette Mattox when she served as an assistant at the University of Kentucky for Rick Pitino from 1990-94.

Adams' primary focus will be the development of guards for a Loyola Maryland program which finished 15-17 overall last season and was 7-11 in the Patriot League. She will then ease into recruiting and scouting.

"I am beyond thrilled to welcome Corin 'Tiny' Adams to the Loyola Basketball family," said Loyola Maryland head coach Tavaras Hardy. "Tiny is incredibly passionate about developing future leaders, on and off the court. She knows what it takes to become a great player, her relationship management and interpersonal skills are off the charts, and she's extremely driven. Tiny is the perfect fit for our coaching staff."

Joining Hardy's coaching staff provides Adams an opportunity to move a closer to accomplishing her ultimate goal of becoming the first female head coach of a men's Division 1 collegiate program and to coach her team to The Final Four.

"Morgan has been home for me a total of seven years. There's no replacing the feeling of not only being around family, but also seeing and being a part of its growth," said Adams. "When I started pursuing this coaching dream of mine, Dr.  Edward Scott told me that in order for me to truly be great, I'd have to leave one day to experience something somewhere different. He said whether I chose to come back or not was on me, but he said experience was the best teacher. And since I know Morgan inside and out, to reach my full potential I'd have to step outside of my comfort zone."

Adams joins the Greyhounds' staff after spending last season as a video coordinator with the Morgan State men's basketball program under the direction of head coach Kevin Broadus.

Prior to joining Morgan State's staff, Adams spent two years at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (2016-18) as a volunteer assistant coach. She served as a certified basketball official (2017-19) for both high school and women's junior college basketball.

In addition to officiating, Adams has also served as a Scout for Two Points Agency (2014-19) based out of Cremona, Italy. Her responsibilities included scouting, evaluating, and recruiting collegiate talent worldwide (male and female) and negotiating professional contracts for their clients.

Adams, a 2010 graduate of Morgan State, who also earned her master's degree at the University, starred for the Lady Bears from 2006-10. A four-year letterwinner and three-year captain, Adams played in 121 career games and totaled 2,058 career points, 455 assists, 404 steals, and 564 rebounds. Adams is the school's all time leader for both men and women in points, assists and steals.

Even at 5-foot-5, she also ranks 13th in rebounding. Adams was selected to the MEAC Rookie Team in 2007, the MEAC Tournament Team in 2007, earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, as well as MEAC Player of the Year in 2010 and she made First Team All-MEAC from 2008-10. Adams also recorded the program's first and still the only triple-double, finishing with 11 points, 10 assists, and 11 steals against North Carolina Central on Nov. 21, 2007.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Adams will be inducted into the Varsity "M" Club, Morgan State's Athletics Hall of Fame this month.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adams went on to have an illustrious professional career abroad. From 2010-2017 Adams played professional basketball in Puerto Rico, Portugal, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Sweden, Czech Republic, Chile, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, and Greece.

Aside from her on the court achievements, Adams has also done some admirable work in both her hometown Brooklyn, NY, as well as the Baltimore Community. In 2014 Adams Co-Founded a non-profit organization: T3 Sports Inc. T3 Sports is dedicated to helping girls and young women overcome the many obstacles that prevent optimal physical and psychological development in their communities. Through her non-profit, she hosts multiple events including free basketball camps and seminars to empower the young women and girls in their respective communities.

Following the creation of T3 Sports Inc, Adams also became an Entrepreneur and Author simultaneously. In June of 2015, Adams launched her apparel brand TA9. After launching the brand, Adams felt the need to share her testimony and release an autobiography entitled Tiny Setbacks, Major Comebacks: From Brooklyn To Europe in September of 2015. Adams' autobiography details the many obstacles she's had to face throughout her career; providing a blueprint for student-athletes, aspiring professional basketball players, and anyone chasing a dream.

After years of teaching and sharing her knowledge to help others chasing a dream reach their full potential, Adams will now head to the other end of Cold Spring Lane to embark on a new journey as she chases her own dream.

"Even though Loyola is right down the street, this is the opportunity we spoke about," Adams said. "An opportunity to not only make history in a number of ways, but an opportunity to grow in this field. Getting my first taste of the sideline last season with Coach Broadus reassured me that this was exactly what I wanted to do. I'm more than excited and grateful for this opportunity."
