BALTIMORE, Md. -- Coppin State head volleyball coach Tim Walsh was named to the VolleyballMag.com Under 40 Coaching Hotshots, it was released by the magazine on Monday afternoon. The list recognizes head and assistant coaches from NCAA Div. I women's volleyball, NCAA Div. I and II men's volleyball as well as all NCAA beach volleyball programs.
Walsh was the only MEAC head coach to be included on the list, while Howard assistant Ciara Jones and North Carolina A&T State assistant Ariel Newman were also included.
Completing his third season at Coppin in 2019, Walsh guided the Eagles to 13 victories this past season, which is the second-most in school history. The Eagles matched a school record with eight conference wins and won their first MEAC Tournament match since 2014.
His 2018 team, which was the youngest in the nation with 11 true freshman, tripled its win total from a year prior (12 wins, 6-4 in the MEAC).
In three seasons, Walsh has gone 18-19 in conference play, while recording a 25-38 overall record the last two years.
