2019-20 MEAC Bowling Statistics | MEAC Bowling Weekly Notes
NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 7, 2020--The 2019-20 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) bowling resumes this weekend with two schools in action. Delaware State and Monmouth will participate in the Stormin’ Blue and Gold starting on Friday in Las Vegas.
The MEAC’s 11 bowling programs have been off since the next-to-last weekend in November, when Delaware State, Maryland Eastern Shore, Monmouth and North Carolina A&T State all competed in the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic.
Monmouth’s Saige Yamada was named MEAC Bowler of the Week back on Nov. 26 after finishing second overall in the individual standings at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic with a traditional pinfall average of 220.0 -- just .20 from the top bowler.
Yamada broke the 200-pin mark in all five traditional matches, including a season-high 249 against Vanderbilt.
The weekend of Jan. 17 will see several MEAC teams in action; Delaware State and Monmouth will be in the Northeast Invite, while Howard (Kutztown Invite), Maryland Eastern Shore (Northeast Invite), Morgan State (Kutztown Invite) and North Carolina A&T State (Northeast Invite) will resume their respective schedules.
The latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, released in December, has five MEAC programs among the Top 25: Maryland Eastern Shore at No. 6, North Carolina A&T State at No. 7, Delaware State at No. 14, UAB at No. 22 and Monmouth at No. 23.
UMES is also ranked in the National College Bowling Coaches Association poll (No. 14) and the International Bowling Media Association Collegiate poll (No. 20) – the only MEAC program represented in both polls.
