Tyler Maye had a career-high 24 points as NC A&T defeated Florida A&M 97-90 in overtime on Monday night.
NC A&T led 43-29 at halftime, but Florida A&M rallied and forced overtime. The Aggies stepped it up in the extra period to earn the 7-point win. The Rattlers' 52 second-half points marked a season high.
Maye made 4 of 6 3-pointers.
Ronald Jackson had 16 points and 16 rebounds for NC A&T (5-11, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Conference).
Andre Jackson added 16 points.
Kameron Langley had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the hosts.
Rod Melton Jr. had 24 points for the Rattlers (2-11, 0-2).
MJ Randolph added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
DJ Jones had 15 points and 14 rebounds.
NC A&T plays Maryland Eastern Shore on the road on Saturday. Florida A&M plays Morgan State at home on Saturday.

Washington, DC - Cletrell Pope poured in a career-high 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and
Joe French came off the bench to tally 26 as Bethune-Cookman ran by Howard University 102-73 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic game in Burr Gymnasium Monday.
BCU scored 100 points on the road for the first time in league play.
The Wildcats (7-9, 1-1 MEAC) bolted out to a 33-14 early lead and never looked back as Pope (14 points) and French (15 points) combined for 29 points as BCU took a 50-37 halftime lead.
A senior forward, Pope did most of his damage around the basket, connecting on 7 of 11 from the field en route to his 31st career double-double. French provided balance to the attack with his outside stroke, hitting on 8 of 11 overall and 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.
It was more of the same in the second stanza as senior guard
Isaiah Bailey (13 points) and junior guard Mailik Maitland (11 points) got in the act. Maitland also dished out 10 assists for his first double-double as a Wildcat.
Bethune Cookman shot season bests 56 percent from the field and 87 percent (20 of 23) from the free throw line. The Wildcats were also 45 percent (10 of 22) from three-point range while getting 24 assists on 36 baskets.
Howard (2-14, 0-2) got 25 points from freshman guard Wayne Bristol, Jr. that tied his career high, 15 from senior guard Charles "CJ" Williams and a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds from junior forward Zion Cousins.

Norfolk State 82, Coppin State 59
BALTIMORE, Md. - Jermaine Bishop and Joe Bryant Jr. combined for 38 points to lead the Norfolk State men's basketball team to an 82-59 win over Coppin State on Monday night at the Physical Education Complex.
Bishop made 5-of-9 from deep and 7-of-15 overall for a 21-point night. Bryant sank 6-of-10 overall, 3-of-5 from 3-point range, for 17 points. They helped the Spartans knock down 13 treys in the game.
Norfolk State secured its second MEAC win in as many games to start conference play, improving to 6-11 overall as well.
Junior Kashaun Hicks and Spirit Ricks each scored 12 points to give NSU four players in double figures, with Ricks adding a double-double with 10 rebounds. Hicks totaled eight boards as well as NSU held a 42-28 advantage on the glass, 11-4 in second chance points.
For the game, the Spartans shot nearly 48 percent, 57 in the second half. CSU made just 32 percent in the second half and 38 percent overall. The Eagles fell to 0-2 in the league, 4-13 overall.
Ricks had seven of the team's first 11 points, and NSU led 13-7 seven and a half minutes into the contest. Bishop started to heat up, hitting three straight 3-pointers for the Spartans to help get the advantage to seven.
The Spartans led by 10 with 3:30 to go in the half on a trey from Bryant. They went into the locker room ahead by the same margin at 39-29. Bishop totaled 16 in the first half, with Bryant also in double figures with 11.
Bryant and Hicks each sank 3-pointers early in the second half as NSU pushed ahead by 15. The Spartans maintained that double-digit advantage, and then up by 10 with 13 minutes to go, they began a 14-1 run. Hicks and sophomore Chris Ford each had a couple of buckets during that time as the lead stretched to 23, 69-46, with eight minutes left.

Morgan State 77, South Carolina State 63
BALTIMORE, MD---Senior forward
Damani Applewhite tossed in a team-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State fell short of a road sweep 77-63 Monday (Jan. 6
th) to Morgan State at Field Hill House.
The Bulldogs fall to 6-8 overall, 1-1 in the MEAC, while Morgan State improves to 8-9 overall, 2-0 in league play.
South Carolina State led in several categories including points off turnovers (18-15) and second chance points (12-9).
Graduate forward
Tashombe Riley added 12 points and six rebounds, while senior forward
Ian Kinard chipped in 10 and seven rebounds in the loss. Senior guard Zach Sellers had a solid night in the backcourt with eight points, seven assist and three rebounds.
Morgan State was led by Troy Baxter with a team-high 16 points.
