NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 14, 2020Norfolk State redshirt senior Chanette Hicks was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. North Carolina Central’s Anissa Rivera was named Rookie of the Week, while Hicks also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Hicks (G, 5-6, r-Sr., Norfolk, Va.) had a monster game on Saturday as the Spartans defeated Howard to remain unbeaten in conference play. She racked up 30 points (her third 30-point game of the season) on 11-for-23 shooting, including an 8-for-10 effort from the free throw line, while also grabbing nine steals, dishing out seven assists, bringing in five rebounds and blocking two shots.
 
Rivera (F, 6-1, Fr., Capitol Heights, Md.) recorded a pair of double-doubles for the Eagles over the weekend, averaging 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds a contest. She opened with a 23-point, 10-rebound effort against Delaware State, before dropping 12 points and grabbing 10 boards against Maryland Eastern Shore. She also had a block and a steal in each game.

Tatum Hayes (B-CU) had eight points and a pair of steals against Coppin State.
 
Ashanti Hunt (B-CU) recorded a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) against Morgan State, to go along with two steals.
 
Amaya Scott (B-CU) dropped 17 points against Coppin State, then had 13 points and eight boards against Morgan State.
 
Chance Graham (CSU) recorded double-doubles against Bethune-Cookman (10 points, 18 rebounds) and Florida A&M (13 points, 12 rebounds).
 
Alexandria Hamilton (CSU) had 12 points against Florida A&M.
 
Janasia Law (DSU) had 14 points against North Carolina Central.
 
Shalaunda Burney-Robinson (FAMU) had a double-double against Coppin State (13 points, 11 rebounds) after an 18-point, 9-rebound effort against Morgan State.
 
Alaina Rice (FAMU) had 11 points against Coppin State and 10 against Morgan State.
 
Imani Bryant (HOW) recorded a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) against Norfolk State, to go with four blocks, and also had 14 rebounds against South Carolina State.
 
Iyanna Warren (HOW) had 10 points and eight assists against South Carolina State.
 
Ayonna Williams (HOW) dropped 27 points on 9-for-16 shooting against Norfolk State, to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
 
Ja’Niah Henson (MSU) had 13 points against Bethune-Cookman.
 
Ashia McCalla (MSU) dropped 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Bethune-Cookman.
 
Chelsea Mitchell (MSU) had 13 rebounds and five steals against Florida A&M, and grabbed four steals against Bethune-Cookman.
 
Cinia McCray (NCAT) had 23 points and hit seven 3-pointers against Delaware State.
 
Jayla Jones-Pack (NCAT) grabbed 12 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore, and blocked two shots against Delaware State.
 
Paulina Afriyie (NCCU) recorded a double-double (16 points, 16 rebounds) against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Bairesha Gill-Miles (UMES) had 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting against North Carolina Central.
 
Mya Thomas (UMES) had 10 points against North Carolina Central.
