Five Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) cross country programs will be in action on Saturday, with three of them running in the Hornet Invitational hosted by Delaware State at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center in Smyrna, Del.
This past weekend saw the Howard men win and the Howard women finish second in the Howard Labor Day Classic -- a meet in which the Bison claimed both individual gold medals. Gavin Williams took the men's crown, while Melanie White was the women's winner.
Both Williams and White were named MEAC Runners of the Week.
Morgan State and Maryland Eastern Shore were both in that meet as well, while North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central opened at the Elon Opener. The Coppin State women ran this past Friday in the Towson Invitational.
Coppin State and Morgan State will join the host Hornets in Smyrna, Del. this weekend, the first of three meets Delaware State will be hosting in 2019 (not counting the 2019 MEAC Championships, which will be held on Oct. 26). Florida A&M, which was originally scheduled to open last weekend at Florida Atlantic, will instead open this Saturday in the Montevallo Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Ala.
South Carolina State will be at the Buccaneer Open hosted by the College of Charleston.
