MEAC Announces Weekly Cross Country Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 4, 2019Howard sophomore Gavin Williams was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Howard sophomore Melanie White was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Williams (So., Dover, Del.) picked up his first collegiate cross country victory this past Saturday, taking the gold medal in the Howard Labor Day Classic after completing the 5K course in 16:16.42. He paced six Bison to finish in the top 20 as Howard won the team title for the second straight year.
 
White (So., Orlando, Fla.) also won the gold medal at the Howard Labor Day Classic for her first collegiate win, turning in a weekend-best time of 20:28.61 over the 5K course. She led five Bison to finish in the top 20, and Howard came in second in the team standings.
 
Other Top Performers
Tatiana Ogundeko (CSU) was 33rd at the Towson Invitational after completing the 4K course in 17:58.20.
 
Infinnati Rowe (MSU) was fourth at the Howard Labor Day Classic after running a 20:52.48.
 
Regan Kimtai (NCAT) came in 15th at the Elon Opener with an 18:51.00 over 6K.
 
Racheal Kosgei (NCAT) ran a 16:10.40 at the Elon Opener, finishing 50th.
 
Nahom Ftwi (UMES) finished fourth at the Howard Labor Day Classic with a time of 16:41.92.
 
Amirah Jones (UMES) ran a personal-best 21:15.90 at the Howard Labor Day Classic, finishing sixth.
