NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 4, 2019 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will see five teams in action this Saturday, with Norfolk State and South Carolina State playing at home. The weather has had an impact already with hurricane Dorian forcing the cancellation of Bethune-Cookman's home opener against Southeastern Louisiana.

Howard Bison (0-1, 0-0 MEAC) vs. Youngstown State Penguins (1-0, 0-0 MVC)

The Bison fell 79-0 to Maryland in their first game of the season this past Saturday, a game in which Quinton Hill logged a team-high eight tackles. Howard will look to regroup this weekend when the Bison hit the road to take on Youngstown State. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Lane Dragons (0-0, 0-0 SIAC) vs. South Carolina State Bulldogs (1-0, 0-0 MEAC)

Freshman linebacker BJ Davis was named STATS FCS Freshman Player of the Week as well as MEAC Rookie of the Week after keying the Bulldogs' defense in their upset of Wofford this past Saturday. Davis racked up nine tackles (seven solo), an interception, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in the Bulldogs' 28-13 upset of then-No. 9 Wofford. He also helped the Bulldogs limit Wofford to 177 rushing yards. Senior lineman Alex Taylor was named the MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week. He didn't give up a sack and helped the Bulldogs rack up 276 yards of total offense. It was the Bulldogs' first win over their in-state foes since 1976.
North Carolina Central Eagles (0-1, 0-0 MEAC) vs. Towson Tigers (1-0, 0-0 CAA)

The Eagles lost 41-10 to Austin Peay in the season opener for both teams this past weekend. Nique Martin had three receptions for 80 yards and a score. The Eagles to travel to Towson this weekend to face the Tigers. This will be the third-ever meeting between the two schools, with Towson winning both games, including the last meeting, 31-20, back in 2014.
Virginia State Trojans (0-0, 0-0 CIAA) vs. Norfolk State Spartans (0-1, 0-0 MEAC)

The two Virginia foes will meet in the Battles of the States. Norfolk State is coming off a hard-fought loss to city rival Old Dominion 27-24 in just the fourth meeting between the two schools. DaKendall James had five catches for 101 yards and score in his Spartans' debut, including a 57-yard touchdown reception and a two-point conversion. The Spartans won the last meeting between the two schools, 34-13, last season, and have won four of the last five meetings between the two schools.

Redshirt sophomore Jermaine McDaniel was named the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Aggies' 24-21 win over Elon this past Saturday. McDaniel racked up eight tackles, including three for a loss, and three sacks. Junior kicker Noel Ruiz was named MEAC Specialist of the Week after connecting on a school-record 52-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. Senior receiver Elijah Bell set a school record with his 26th career touchdown catch, a one-handed grab in the back corner of the end zone. This will be the first meeting between the two North Carolina schools, and the Aggies have defeated an FBS foe in each of the past three seasons
