TBILISI, Georgia – Former Coppin State men's basketball player Cedric Council has signed a contract to play for BC Dinamo Tbilisi, a professional basketball club that plays in the Georgian Superliga. Dinamo Tbilisi is one of the oldest and most successful basketball clubs of Georgia, having won numerous national titles and the 1962 FIBA European Champions Cup.

Council is the second Eagles player who played for head coach Juan Dixon to sign a professional contract, as Lamar Morgan is now playing professionally in Portugal (Maia Basket Clube).

A native of Kennesaw, Ga., Council was a two-year starter for Coppin State after transferring from Gordon State College prior to his junior season. In 65 career games with the Eagles, Council averaged 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds while blocking 67 shots and recording 43 steals.

Some of Council's best performances came against premier teams, as his career-high 17 points and five 3-pointers came in a near-upset at Georgia Tech on Dec. 27, 2017. A three-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, Council blocked multiple shots in 15 games, including a career-high five at Ohio University on Dec. 1, 2017.

Over the summer, Council played for Houston in the Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas, which is considered the top international summer league on the market. In three ESL games, Council averaged 14.7 points and finished third in the league at 10.3 rebounds while recording 2.3 assists and 1.0 blocks.

He was then named to the All-Eurobasket Summer League First Team.
