S.C. State's Davis Named STATS FCS Freshman Player of the Week

South Carolina State linebacker B.J. Davis picked up a second award on Monday, as he was named STATS FCS Freshman Player of the Week.

This award was in addition to being named MEAC Rookie of the Week earlier in the day.

Davis fueled South Carolina State's 28-13 upset of then-No. 9 Wofford on Saturday, collecting nine tackles, including seven solos and a national-high four for loss (17 yards), one interception, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry. The Bulldogs limited Wofford to 177 rushing yards - 135 below the Terriers' 2018 average.

Other STATS FCS award winners on Monday were Tennessee Tech's Bailey Fisher (Offensive Player of the Week), Villanova's Jaquan Amos (Defensive Player of the Week) and Northern Iowa's Matthew Cook (Special Teams Player of the Week).
