MEAC Cross Country: Four Teams Running in Week 3

Four Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) cross country squads will be in action this weekend. On Friday, Maryland Eastern Shore will participate in the William & Mary Invitational. On Saturday, Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman will participate in the Florida Mountain Dew Classic on hosted by Florida, while Norfolk State will open its season in the Cavalier Classic hosted by the University of Virginia.

This past weekend saw Morgan State sweep the men’s and women’s team titles at the Hornet Invitational hosted by Delaware State. Morgan State didn’t have the top finisher in either race, but did have five of the top six on the women’s side and three of the top six on the men’s side.

Coppin State also participated in the meet, with Tatiana Ogundeko winning the individual title for the first time in her collegiate career. Delaware State’s Corey McGhie won the men’s race with a 5K time of 16:40.80.

Both McGhie and Ogundeko were named MEAC Runner of the Week.

Florida A&M also ran this past weekend in the Montevallo Falcon Classic; the women finished eighth in the stacked field, and the men were 13th.

South Carolina State was scheduled to participate in the Buccaneer Open hosted by Charleston Southern, but the meet was cancelled in advance of Hurricane Dorian.
