MEAC Cross Country Off and Running to Kick Off 2019 This Weekend

The 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) cross country season will be off and running this weekend, with eight programs in action over the course of two days.

The season will begin on Friday, with Coppin State competing in the Towson Invitational and Florida A&M -- having won seven straight MEAC women's cross country titles -- opening things up in the Florida Atlantic Invite in Boca Raton, Fla.

Meanwhile, the two North Carolina schools -- North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central -- will run in the Elon Opener. The Aggies are the defending MEAC champions on the men's side, having claimed the first cross country conference title in 34 years last season.

On Saturday, Howard will host the Labor Day Classic, with a field that will include Maryland Eastern Shore and Morgan State. South Carolina State's 2019 campaign will kick off in Columbia, S.C., where the Bulldogs will be running in the Carolina Challenge.

Delaware State will open its season on Saturday, Sept. 7, while Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman won't be in action until Sept. 14.

The 2019 MEAC Cross Country Championships will once again be held at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center in Smyrna, Del., hosted by Delaware State, on Saturday, Oct. 26.
