Bethune-Cookman head women's basketball coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis was named BOXTOROW Coach of the Year, it was announced on Monday. In addition, six women's basketball players represented the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) on the BOXTOROW All-America teams.
Blair-Lewis, in her 11th season, led the Wildcats to a 21-11 record and a third-place finish in the MEAC regular season. She then led the Wildcats to the MEAC Tournament championship – their first since 1984 – and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
B-CU faced Notre Dame in the first round.
Angel Golden, also of Bethune-Cookman, was one of three MEAC players named to the BOXTOROW All-America First Team -- another honor for a player who had already been named First Team All-MEAC and the MEAC Tournament's Outstanding Performer.
Joining Golden on the First Team were MEAC Player of the Year NaJai Pollard from Delaware State and fellow First Team All-MEAC honoree Adre'onia Coleman from Morgan State.
On the BOXTOROW Second Team were Maryland Eastern Shore's Ciani Byrom, Brooke Fields of Coppin State and North Carolina A&T State's C'coriea Foy.
