Norfolk State graduate student Naz Karagoz was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Bethune-Cookman’s Michelle Ncube was named Rookie of the Week.
Karagoz (Gr., Instanbul, Turkey) extended both her singles and doubles match win streaks this past week against Howard, helping the Spartans improve to 3-0 in MEAC play. In defeating the Bison’s Yassmine Khiri 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 spot, she won her fifth straight singles match – and she picked up her sixth straight doubles win after pairing with Zoe Fraser for a 6-1 win over Christina Joynes and Nicole Hutchison.
Ncube (Fr., Harare, Zimbabwe) defeated Southern’s Tanaka Chakanyuka 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 doubles position this past Saturday, before pairing with Karen Romero in the No. 2 doubles spot for a 6-2 victory over Stephain Mbaya and D’Jeri Raymond.

Karen Romero (B-CU) defeated Nandi Mnuyulwa of Southern 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles spot.
Dominique Jackson (HOW) picked up a singles win and doubles victory against Norfolk State.
Aria Ragas (HOW) paired with Dominique Jackson for a 6-4 doubles victory against Norfolk State.
Asmara Rose (MSU) defeated Bucknell’s Mishi Papich 6-0, 6-2 in No. 4 singles.
