NORFOLK, Va., March 6, 2019—
North Carolina Central sophomore Frida Cnossen was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.
North Carolina Central’s Ivana Dragovic was named Rookie of the Week.
Cnossen (So., Laren, Netherlands) took matches in the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles to help North Carolina Central capture a 4-3 win over Longwood. She knocked off the Lancers’ top player, Marija Venta, with 6-2 and 6-3 scores to secure the win, as well as a 6-4 doubles win with Hannah Gaines, and she currently leads the Eagles in singles wins in dual matches.
Dragovic (Fr., Novi Sad, Serbia) clinched the Lady Eagles’ 4-3 win when she defeated Longwood’s Crystal Nzewi 6-4 and 6-3 in the final match of the contest.
Other Top Performers
Yelyzaveta Bessonova (DSU) swept the court with two 6-0 wins in singles before teaming up with Alina Polyvana for an 8-2 doubles victory against Washington College.
