Maryland Eastern Shore Advances to MEAC Bowling Championship Final

Updated Bracket

CHESAPEAKE, Va., March 24, 2019--
Maryland Eastern Shore advanced to the championship final of the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship Sunday morning with a 2-0 Mega Match victory over Delaware State.

The Hawks will face No. 2 seed North Carolina A&T State in the final at 12 p.m. This is the third straight year the two teams have squared off for the title. Maryland Eastern Shore won the title in 2017, and the Aggies took the crown last season.

Maryland Eastern Shore, the No. 1 seed, opened with a 914-894 win over Delaware State in the traditional team game. Freshman Chloe Skurzynski led the way with a 222, her first game over 200 for the tournament. Alexis Neuer led Delaware State with a 202.

The Hawks held the early advantage in the Baker pinfall format, but Delaware State rolled a 213 in the fourth game to take the lead. Maryland Eastern Shore rebounded, though, turning in a 209 in the final game to take the second game 921-881.

The final will pit the MEAC's two most successful bowling programs against each other. Maryland Eastern Shore leads all teams with nine conference titles, while North Carolina A&T State has five championships.

The championship final will be rebroadcast on ESPNU on Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. EST.
