MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

NORFOLK, Va., March 19, 2019North Carolina A&T State freshman Ericka Quesada and Maryland Eastern Shore senior Alexandra Hernandez were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Bowlers of the Week, the conference office announced today.
 
Quesada (Fr., Heredia, Costa Rica) set a new career high not once but twice this past weekend during the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn. Quesada bowled a 253 during Game 3, surpassing her career high of 243 to help the Aggies down the No. 1 team in the nation in McKendree by a score of 1,068-1,018. She then bowled a 259 in Game 5 to help the Aggies defeat North Central 996-763. Quesada also set a new career high in total pinfall at 1,170 for a 234 average. Her performance landed her a second-place finish in the individual standings and earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Hernandez (Sr., Maracaibo, Venezuela) was key in Maryland Eastern Shore winning the Northern Invite regular-season finale this past weekend. In traditional play, she averaged 232 pins – including a weekend-best 258 in the first traditional game against Fairleigh Dickinson. She was second in the individual standings, pacing the Hawks and earning All-Tournament honors, and her performance carried over into Sunday, in which she had a 56.3 percent strike rate and 90.6 fill rate in bracket play as the Hawks went undefeated for the day.
 
Other Top Performers
Demetria Bethel (FAMU) was named the MVP of the TNBA/HBCU Invitational after eclipsing the 200-pin mark in every traditional game to bring her to an average of 223 and a total pinfall of 1,115. 
 
Tea Lewis (HOW) had an average of 191.0 at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, scoring a weekend-high 225 in the tournament.
