Bethune-Cookman Heading to Notre Dame for NCAA Tourney

Bethune-Cookman, which this past weekend won its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) women's basketball tournament title since 1984, will head to South Bend, Ind. to take on Notre Dame in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

The game is set for an 11 a.m. EST tipoff and will be shown live on ESPN2.

The Wildcats (21-10) defeated Norfolk State 57-45 on Saturday in the championship game of the MEAC Basketball Tournament to claim their spot in the 64-team field. B-CU is led by First Team All-MEAC selection Angel Golden, the tournament's Outstanding Performer, who is second in the MEAC in scoring at 19.7 points a game.

Notre Dame is the No. 1 seed in the Chicago Region and the defending national champion. The Irish are 30-3 overall this season and won the ACC Tournament title on Sunday, March 10 as a No. 4 seed. Five Notre Dame players are averaging in double figures this season, led by Arike Ogunbowale's 21.0 per contest.

The winner of Saturday's game will face either Central Michigan or Michigan State in the second round on Monday.
