CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Hunter Halford drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Norfolk State softball team a 5-4 walk-off victory over Buffalo on Friday afternoon.
NSU rallied in its first game of the Cavalier Classic hosted by the University of Virginia at The Park. The Spartans were down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth before plating two in the inning, one more in the sixth and then the game-ending run in the seventh. NSU improved to 4-6 with its third straight win.

WILMINGTON – North Carolina A&T did not get the offense they wanted, but the pitching was certainly there.
In their first game of the Marriott Seahawk Softball Classic Tournament hosted by the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at Boseman Field on Friday, the Aggies softball team lost to UNCW 1-0.
N.C. A&T senior Mohagony Headen (0-4) was brilliant in the circle in defeat. She went six innings, gave up three hits, struck out two and the one run. The one run Headen surrendered was a one-out solo home run to left field by Jada Santiago. Headen had it going from there.

Hampton, Va. (Mar. 1, 2019) --- Hampton scored five runs in its last two at bats to overcome a two run deficit in a 5-3 victory over Delaware State in game two of HU’s Pirate Invitational Softball Tournament today.
The teams also played the opening game of the tournament, with Hampton coming out on top 9-0.
In game two, Delaware State scored single runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead. Tiffany Diao singled in Vanessa Barron with the Hornets’ second inning run, while Jaelyn Baker scored DSU’s fourth inning run on an error after getting on base with a leadoff double.
Hampton tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning off Delaware State starter Brianna Baker. The Pirates tacked on three more runs off Baker in the sixth to open up a 5-2 lead.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman shortstop Jacki Smith tallied a team-high five hits on Friday, but it was not enough as the Wildcats fell in two tightly contested ballgames against Incarnate Word (4-0) and Middle Tennessee (6-2) at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The games were the first of four to be played on the weekend for the Wildcats as part of the Under Armour Showcase hosted by USF.

Bethune-Cookman left the bases loaded in back-to-back innings Friday afternoon as the Wildcats dropped a 4-0 decision to Incarnate Word at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Florida. The game was the first of two played on the day for BCU as part of the Under Armour Showcase hosted by USF.
Incarnate Word (1-10) gathered a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning to break the early deadlock.
Sam Wendel doubled to left field to score a pair in the form of Jaylin Olivarez and Hope Sobolewski, giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE 6, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 2 (10 inn.)
Middle Tennessee scored five runs in the top of the 10th inning Friday afternoon en route to a 6-2 victory over Bethune-Cookman at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Florida. The game was the second of two played on the day for BCU as part of the Under Armour Showcase hosted by USF.
Middle Tennessee (8-9) used a single from Kirstyn Cuccia in seven spot to score substitute designated player Cameran McKenry from third, following the sacrifice bunt from Deja Portillo to move the runner into scoring position. That allowed the Blue Raiders a 2-1 lead at that point with one out.
After Hailey Bosley walked, BCU Hall of Fame Head Coach Laura Watten went to Destiny Enriquez out of the bullpen for the Maroon and Gold.
