NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 5, 2019—Delaware State senior NaJai Pollard and
Bethune-Cookman senior Angel Golden were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, presented by the U.S. Marines, the conference office announced today.
Florida A&M’s Mya Moye earned Rookie of the Week honors, while
Howard junior Imani Bryant was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Pollard (5-11, F, Sr., Richmond, Va.) averaged a double-double of 26.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per contest over the weekend. Her best performance came on Monday against South Carolina State, when she had 36 points and 11 rebounds – marking her sixth 30-point game of the season and her fifth double-double in the past six games. On Saturday against Savannah State, Pollard racked up 16 points and 15 boards, while going 6-for-11 from the floor.
Golden (5-8, G, Sr., Tampa, Fla.) averaged 23.0 points and 3.5 steals per game this past weekend, going a combined 17-for-40 (.425) from the floor. On Saturday against North Carolina Central, the reigning MEAC Player of the Year set career highs in points (33) and steals (six), and she hit five of her nine 3-pointers in that contest while going 11-for-20 (.550) from the floor and hitting all six of her free throws.
Moye (5-6, G, Fr., Washington, D.C.) averaged 13.0 points per game and went a combined 9-for-16 (.563) from the floor in two contests this past weekend. After turning in an 11-point effort on 4-for-8 shooting against North Carolina A&T State on Saturday, she dropped 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting and three 3-pointers on Monday against North Carolina Central. For the weekend, Moye went 5-for-8 (.625) from 3-point range.
Bryant (6-1, F, Jr., Berkeley, Calif.) grabbed 10 rebounds – seven of which came on the defensive end – and blocked three shots in the Bison’s win over Norfolk State on Saturday, handing the Spartans their second straight MEAC loss. She also recorded a steal in that contest.

Chasimmie Brown (B-CU) averaged 9.0 rebounds a contest, and 12 of her 18 rebounds came on the defensive end.
Camary Harris (B-CU) had 10 points and eight rebounds against North Carolina Central.
Brooke Fields (CSU) dropped 24 points against Morgan State on 9-for-19 shooting.
Chance Graham (CSU) had 14 rebounds and two blocks against Morgan State.
Dy’Manee Royal (FAMU) recorded a double-double against North Carolina Central with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sarah Edmond (HOW) had 21 points on 6-for-14 shooting against Norfolk State.
Ciani Byrom (MDES) had 13 points and a career-high 12 assists against South Carolina State.
Bairesha Gill-Miles (MDES) grabbed 16 rebounds against South Carolina State.
Jihayah Chavis (MSU) had three steals against Coppin State.
Adre’onia Coleman (MSU) had 20 points and eight rebounds against Coppin State, hitting nine of 17 field goals.
Ashia McCalla (MSU) hit three 3-pointers against Coppin State, recording nine points.
C’coriea Foy (NCAT) averaged 3.5 steals in two contests, recording four steals against Bethune-Cookman.
Cinia McCray (NCAT) had 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting against Bethune-Cookman.
Taylor Brown (SCSU) racked up 24 points and 13 rebounds against Delaware State.
