DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University led by double-digits for the entirety of the second half against South Carolina State, and rode that to a 72-62 win over the Bulldogs in the final home game of the 2018-19 season at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Monday, Feb. 25.
With the win, NCCU (15-14, 10-5 MEAC) collected its 10th home win of the season, and marked its third-consecutive season with 10 or more wins inside McDougald-McLendon Arena. This is also the second time during Coach Moton’s tenure that the Eagles accomplished the feat, after the first run from 2012 to 2015.
The Eagles set the tone early as the Eagles shot close to 58 percent from the floor and went on a 15-6 run about midway through the first period to jump ahead, 30-14. The Eagles eventually led by as many as 18 as the maroon and gray took a 41-28 lead to the break over SCSU (7-23, 5-9 MEAC).
