MEAC Announces Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 19, 2019—Bethune-Cookman senior Angel Golden was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, presented by the U.S. Marines, the conference office announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s Camary Harris earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Norfolk State redshirt senior Khadedra Croker and Howard junior Imani Bryant were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week.
 
Golden (5-8, G, Sr., Tampa, Fla.) averaged 23.0 points per contest this past week in helping the Wildcats pick up a pair of conference victories to vault into third in the standings. She hit eight of her 15 shots from 3-point range for the week (53.3 percent) and eclipsed the 20-point mark in both games. After dropping 22 points at South Carolina State on Saturday, she turned in a 24-point effort against Savannah State – a game in which she went 5-for-8 from distance. She also had two steals in each contest, and against South Carolina State, she dished out a pair of assists.
 
Harris (5-6, G, Fr., Suffolk, Va.) had a career night on Monday against Savannah State, setting career highs in points (18) and rebounds (nine). She also went 7-for-10 from the floor in that contest, while also dishing out four assists and grabbing a steal. For the week, Harris averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest, and she was a combined 9-for-15 (60.0 percent) from the floor.
 
Croker (6-3, F/C, r-Sr., Suffolk, Va.) averaged 4.0 blocks per game this past week, including a season-high six in Saturday’s win over North Carolina Central. She also had a pair of blocks on Monday against North Carolina A&T State. Croker also had 11 rebounds in two games – eight of which came on the defensive end.
 
Bryant (6-1, F, Jr., Berkeley, Calif.) averaged 3.5 blocks per game for the Bison this past week. She opened the week with three blocked shots and a steal against North Carolina A&T State, before turning in a four-block effort in a win over North Carolina Central.

Chasimmie Brown (B-CU)
had seven rebounds each in wins over South Carolina State and Savannah State.
 
Mya Moye (FAMU) had 14 points, four rebounds and three steals against Savannah State.
 
Dy’Manee Royal (FAMU) recorded a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) against South Carolina State.
 
Krislyn Marsh (HOW) had 11 points and nine rebounds in a win over North Carolina Central.
 
Ayonna Williams (HOW) had 22 points and four assists against North Carolina A&T State.
 
Ciani Byrom (MDES) dropped 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists in a win over Coppin State.
 
Taylor Brown (SCSU) notched a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Florida A&M.
