NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 12, 2019—Delaware State senior NaJai Pollard and
Bethune-Cookman senior Angel Golden were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, presented by the U.S. Marines, the conference office announced today.
Howard’s Krislyn Marsh earned Rookie of the Week honors, while
Howard junior Imani Bryant was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Pollard (5-11, F, Sr., Richmond, Va.) averaged 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game this past week, while shooting a combined 58.3 percent (21-for-36) from the floor. She dropped 30 points – her seventh 30-point game of the season – and grabbed nine rebounds against North Carolina A&T State on Saturday, before going 10-for-16 from the floor on Monday against North Carolina Central, scoring 27 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking four shots.
Golden (5-8, G, Sr., Tampa, Fla.) was key in two Bethune-Cookman wins this past week, averaging 25.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest while going a combined 18-for-41 (.439) from the floor. In Saturday’s win over Norfolk State, she had 25 points and six rebounds, hitting three 3-pointers and eight free throws. She followed that up on Monday with 26 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a comeback win over Howard.
Marsh (6-0, F, Fr., Duncanville, Texas) averaged 9.0 points and 7.0 rebounds a game this past week, to go along with 1.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest, while going a combined 7-for-12 (.583) from the floor. She had 10 points and five rebounds at Florida A&M, before recording a balanced box score against Bethune-Cookman with eight points, nine rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Bryant (6-1, F, Jr., Berkeley, Calif.) averaged 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game this past week – and of her 18 combined rebounds, 14 came on the defensive end. Against Florida A&M, she grabbed nine boards (six defensive) to go along with four blocked shots and a steal – and against Bethune-Cookman, she again had nine rebounds (eight defensive), three blocked shots and two steals.

Camary Harris (B-CU) scored 11 points in a win over Howard.
Amaya Scott (B-CU) had 11 rebounds and three steals against Howard.
Brooke Fields (CSU) led the Eagles in both games this past week, dropping 26 points against Savannah State and 21 against South Carolina State.
Chance Graham (CSU) averaged 11.5 rebounds in two games, including 13 against South Carolina State.
Jalynda Salley (CSU) grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked four shots against Savannah State.
Dy’Manee Royal (FAMU) scored 11 points against Howard.
Ayonna Williams (HOW) had 21 points, three steals and three assists against Bethune-Cookman.
Adre’onia Coleman (MSU) had 13 points, six rebounds and two steals against South Carolina State.
Ashia McCalla (MSU) dropped 12 points against South Carolina State.
C’coriea Foy (NCAT) grabbed four steals against Delaware State and three against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Cinia McCray (NCAT) dropped 24 points in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Rayven Peeples (NCAT) averaged 7.5 rebounds per game in helping the Aggies remain unbeaten in MEAC play.
Khadedra Croker (NSU) blocked five shots against Bethune-Cookman.
