B-CU's Hendrix Added to Buck Buchanan Watch List

Bethune-Cookman senior linebacker Marquis Hendrix is one of 16 players added to the Watch List for the Buck Buchanan Award, it was announced on Thursday.

Hendrix currently ranks third in the MEAC in total tackles , averaging nearly nine a game -- an average that has him ranked No. 35 in all of FCS. His 71 total tackles are the sixth-most in the league. He has racked up double-digit tackles in each of the last four games -- and five overall -- and he has twice recorded a season-high 12 stops: at North Carolina Central and against Mississippi Valley State.

He also has 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks on the season.

Hendrix's addition gives the MEAC two players on the list. He joins North Carolina A&T State defensive back Franklin "Mac" McCain III, who was named to the Buck Buchanan Watch List in the preseason.

The honor, in its 25th year, is given to the FCS Defensive Player of the Year. A national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries will select the Buchanan winner following the regular season. Past recipients include Dexter Coakley, former Wildcat Rashean Mathis, Jared Allen and Arthur Moats.
