Leon Smalls, is the Defensive Player of the Week and South Carolina State freshman
Corey Fields has been selected as Rookie of the Week. Earning Offensive Lineman of the Week honors is Bethune-Cookman’s
Nicholas Roos and picking up Co-Specialists of the Week honors are the Bethune-Cookman’s
Jonathan Thomas and South Carolina State’s
Dillon Bredesen.
Martin (RB, 5-10, 214, Jr., Conway, S.C.) averaged 11.1 yards per carry as he recorded another 50-plus yard touchdown run, his ninth of the season. He finished the game with 11 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns in a win over North Carolina Central.
Smalls (DE, 6-0, 250, Sr., Charleston, S.C.) had nine tackles (five solo), two sacks and six tackles for a loss of 34 yards on Senior Day as part of a defense that held North Carolina Central to nine total yards of offense and a -6 yards rushing.
Fields (QB, 6-0, 188, r-Fr., Hollywood, S.C.) completed 20 of 35 passes for 286 yards to lead the Bulldogs to a 20-17 overtime win over Norfolk State to claim a share of the 2019 MEAC championship.
Roos (OL, 6-7, 263, Sr., Ormond Beach, Fla.) helped the Wildcats to a ninth straight win over Florida A&M in the Florida Blue Florida Classic. B-CU totaled 467 yards of total office and Roos recorded two pancake blocks and didn’t record any penalties.
Thomas (WR, 6-1, 188, Jr., Port St. Lucie, Fla.) came in during the Florida Classic to take over kicking duties as a wide receiver and went 4-for-4 on PATs and 1-for-2 on field goals, making a 25-yard field goal.
Bredesen (K, 5-10, 160, So., Cantonment, Fla.) connected on two field goals of 29 and 27 yards, including the game-winning field goal in overtime, to give South Carolina State a 20-17 road win over Norfolk State and a share of the MEAC title.

Devin James (B-CU) finished his final game with six tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.
Isaac Washington (B-CU) finished the game with 104 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown and also caught three passes for 26 yards in the win over Florida A&M.
Dedrick Parson (HOW) had 26 carries for 170 yards and a touchdown in the Bison’s 20-15 win over Morgan State.
Ray Williams (HOW) had seven tackles, a half sack, a force fumble and a blocked field goal attempt in Howard’s 20-15 win over Morgan State.
Ian McBorrough (MSU) led the Bears with a game-high 15 tackles (10 solo) to go along with a tackle for a loss at Howard.
Wes Wolfork (MSU) finished his college career with four catches for 116 yards and a touchdown and also had one carry for 10 yards.
Nigel Chavis (NSU) finished with 11 tackles, including a season-high 2.5 tackles for a loss. He also recorded a QB hurry and a pass breakup.
Gerald Hulertt (NSU) logged career highs of 20 rushes, 84 yards and two touchdowns in his final game.
Jacob Roberts (NCAT) had six tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss of eight yards in the win over North Carolina Central.
Noel Ruiz (NCAT) was 6-for-7 on extra points and made field goals of 33 and 35 yards as the Aggies claimed a share of the MEAC championship.
