NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 19, 2019—
Norfolk State redshirt senior Chanette Hicks and
Delaware State junior Sharajah Collins were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.
North Carolina Central’s Anissa Rivera earned Rookie of the Week honors, while
Hicks also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Hicks (G, 5-6, r-Sr., Norfolk, Va.) went into the Norfolk State history books on Thursday, recording the program’s first-ever Div. I triple-double in a win over Virginia University of Lynchburg. In going 9-for-20 from the floor, Hicks dropped 20 points, while also dishing out 14 assists and grabbing 11 steals. Those 11 steals are the second-most in a single game in program history, and she added five rebounds – all on the defensive end.
Collins (G/F, 5-7, Jr., Winter Haven, Fla.) averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game as Delaware State won both its games this past week. She opened the week with a 24-point, 4-assist, 4-steal performance, going 7-for-15 from the floor and 3-for-6 from 3-point range in a 67-64 win over Delaware – the first win for the Hornets ever in that series. She also had 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in a home win over Georgian Court.
Rivera (F, 6-1, So., Fredericksburg, Va.) averaged 11.0 points, 16.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 4.5 rebounds per game this past week. She opened with 14 rebounds in the opener against Winthrop to go along with eight points, three steals and three blocks – before recording a double-double (14 points, 18 rebounds) against Charleston. That game also saw her record six steals and block six shots.

Tatum Hayes (B-CU) dropped 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers, against Edward Waters.
Ciara Thompson (B-CU) had seven rebounds and three steals against Edward Waters.
Chance Graham (CSU) recorded a double-double (22 points, 12 rebounds) against Saint Peter’s.
Sarah Edmond (HOW) scored 16 points each against No. 2 USF and Saint Peter’s.
Brooklyn Fort-Davis (HOW) had 16 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Saint Peter’s.
Chelsea Mitchell (MSU) had 20 points and 12 rebounds against Omaha.
Dahnye Redd (MSU) recorded a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) against Nebraska.
Jayla Jones-Pack (NCAT) recorded a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) in a win over East Tennessee State.
Cinia McCray (NCAT) dropped 23 points and hit four 3-pointers against East Tennessee State.
Taylor Brown (SCSU) had 24 points against UNC Wilmington.
