MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 12, 2019Maryland Eastern Shore senior Brigitte Jacobs was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Brooke Roberts was named Rookie of the Week.
 
Jacobs (Sr., Freeport, Ill.) was the top individual at the MEAC #1 meet this past weekend, averaging 221.7 pins in six traditional matches. She eclipsed the 200-pin mark in all six matches, and she set her season best with a 230 against North Carolina A&T State. Jacobs’ performance helped the Hawks go 12-0 for the weekend to win the meet and sit atop the conference standings.
 
Roberts (Fr., Port Orange, Fla.) had the best weekend of her young collegiate career, averaging 211.8 pins in five traditional games. She had three games of 200 or better – including a weekend-best 236 against Howard – and her performance helped the Hawks go 12-0 for the weekend to win the meet and sit atop the conference standings.
 
Other Top Performers
Samantha Ford (B-CU) ranked eighth at the MEAC #1 meet, averaging 195.8 pins in traditional play.
 
Alexis Neuer (DSU) came in third in the MEAC #1 individual standings after averaging 206.0 pins and rolling three games of 200 or better.
 
Chelsie Cleaves (FAMU) was sixth in the MEAC #1 individual standings, bowling two 200-pin games and averaging 203 pins in traditional play.
 
Saige Yamada (MON) averaged 203.3 pins in traditional play at MEAC #1, ranking fifth in the individual standings.
 
Ashanti Fernandes (MSU) led three Bears in the top 20, finishing 10th with a traditional average of 190.0 and bowling a 236 against UAB.
 
Cameron Strombeck (NCAT) was second in the individual standings at MEAC #1, averaging 210.2 pins and bowling three 200 games.
 
Crystal Brewer (NSU) bowled two 200 games and averaged 181.7 pins at MEAC #1.
 
Chanel Staton (NSU) averaged 166.2 pins in six traditional games.
 
Taylor Russell (UAB) averaged 189.7 pins in traditional play to lead the Blazers.
