NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 11, 2019—
Bethune-Cookman junior Faith Landreneaux and
Morgan State sophomore Zoe McBride were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Bethune-Cookman’s Alleah Dallas was named Rookie of the Week, while
Bethune-Cookman senior Shayla Eugene and
Howard senior Kira Porter each earned Defensive Specialist of the Week honors and
Morgan State senior Roi Wallace was named Setter of the Week.
Landreneaux (5-10, Jr., MB, Carthage, Texas) hit a combined .534 in three matches this past week, while averaging 2.9 kills and 1.0 blocks per set. She had back-to-back 13-kill performances against North Florida and Florida A&M, hitting .650 in the former and .571 in the latter match. She also racked up six total blocks against the Rattlers, and Landreneaux closed out the week with a 9-kill, 5-block, 2-service ace performance against Jacksonville. She had at least one service ace and one block in each match.
McBride (6-0, So., OH/RS, Ridgefield, Wash.) hit .467 in the Lady Bears’ straight-set win over Coppin State on Friday, helping Morgan State solidify its position in second place in the Northern Division standings. For the match, McBride had 18 kills, four digs, three service aces and three total blocks – giving her averages of 6.0 kills, 1.33 digs, 1.0 aces and 1.0 blocks per set.
Dallas (6-0, Fr., MB, Houston, Texas) was a threat both at the net and on the offensive end this past week, averaging 1.75 kills and 0.83 blocks per set and hitting a combined .381 over the course of three matches. She had nine kills and a block in a four-set win over Florida A&M on Friday, and she followed that up on Sunday with eight kills, six total blocks and and a .583 hitting percentage against Jacksonville. In the North Florida match, Dallas had three total blocks to go along with four kills.
Eugene (5-4, Sr., DS, Fort Worth, Texas) averaged 5.1 digs per set in three matches this past week, including a pair of 20-dig matches. Her high for the week was 25 in Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville, and that came after she recorded 20 digs in Friday’s four-set win over Florida A&M. Eugene opened the week with 16 digs against North Florida.
Porter (5-11, Sr., MB, Lake Tahoe, Nev.) averaged 1.33 blocks per set in helping Howard to a pair of conference wins this past weekend. She opened the weekend with three total blocks in a sweep of Delaware State, and she followed that up on Sunday with five total blocks against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Wallace (5-9, Sr., S, San Dimas, Calif.) racked up 37 assists in Morgan State’s straight-set win over Coppin State on Friday, a match in which she averaged 12.3 assists per set. Wallace also had five digs and a pair of service aces in the victory.

Ryleigh Taylor (B-CU) had 23 assists against Jacksonville.
Jasmal Cruz (DSU) racked up 23 digs against Norfolk State.
Kayla Diaz (HOW) had 35 assists and six digs against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Jurnee Tipton (HOW) had eight kills, nine digs and five aces against Maryland Eastern Shore, after racking up seven kills and eight digs against Delaware State.
Edie Brewer (NCAT) had nine kills, 16 assists and six digs in a sweep of South Carolina State.
Mallory Porcher (NCAT) had two kills and three blocks against South Carolina State.
Fatimah Shabazz (NCAT) had four blocks against South Carolina State.
Ammaarah Williams (NCCU) had eight kills and three aces, hitting .615 against South Carolina State.
Bojana Bolozan (NSU) had six total blocks against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Myleah Carter (NSU) had 17 digs against Delaware State and 14 against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Anna Rupertova (NSU) recorded a double-double (17 kills, 10 digs) against Delaware State.
