The fans have made their voices heard for the first time in 2019, and they decided that Bethune-Cookman’s Jimmie Robinson turned in the Play of the Week for Week 5. The fans also selected Norfolk State quarterback Juwan Carter and Bethune-Cookman linebacker Marques Ford as their Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Robinson picked up nearly 81 percent of the vote in having the play the fans deemed was the best from Week 5. The walking highlight reel took Howard’s kickoff at his own 2-yard line with 5:13 left in the first quarter, went untouched as he ran up the middle then to his right, speeding down the sideline before finally being brought down at the Bison 3-yard line.
That return set up a touchdown that gave the Wildcats a 21-7 lead. B-CU won the game 37-29.
Carter completed 28 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown this past Saturday against Florida A&M, recording the third 300-yard passing game of his career. Carter, who connected with Anthony Williams for a 26-yard score in the fourth quarter, racked up 73 percent of the fan vote.
Ford, who had 65 percent of the fan vote, racked up a pair of sacks in the Wildcats’ win at Howard on Saturday. Those two sacks made up 67 percent of his defensive output, and Ford had three solo stops in the contest.
