MEAC Bowling Week 4 Will See Five Teams in Action

Five of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) 11 bowling programs will be in action this weekend as the calendar flips from October into November, counting down to the first conference meet of the season in two weekends.

This past weekend saw Maryland Eastern Shore -- the defending conference champion who came into the season ranked No. 7 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason top 25 -- defend its title in the Caldwell Cougar Classic, going 11-1 for the weekend.

Monmouth, preseason No. 25, opened its season at that same tournament, finishing second. No. 19 UAB bowled in the BearCat Hammer Open, finishing seventh.

UMES senior Brigitte Jacobs, a Preseason All-MEAC honoree who earned All-Tournament accolades at Caldwell this past weekend, was named MEAC Bowler of the Week after finishing second in the tournament with a traditional pinfall average of 201.5.

Her teammate Alejandra Amezcua repeated as Rookie of the Week.

Norfolk State will open its 2019-20 season this weekend, competing in the Virginia Union Invitational in Glen Allen, Va. Coppin State, Howard and Morgan State will also be in that tournament.

North Carolina A&T State, ranked No. 8 in the NTCA preseason poll, will head to Texas for the Same Houston State Invitational.

The first MEAC meet of the season will be Nov. 8-10, hosted by Coppin State.
