Top 10 Men's 8K/Women's 5K Times for 2019
Six MEAC cross country squads will be in action this weekend. Morgan State, North Carolina A&T State, Maryland Eastern Shore, and North Carolina Central will all participate in the HBCU Challenge in Cary, N.C. on Saturday, while Delaware State will run in the Don Cathcart Invitational in Salisbury, Md.
South Carolina State will be at the Charleston Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
This past weekend, Delaware State’s men and women both finished first in their Pre-Conference Invite at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center (site of the 2019 MEAC Cross Country Championships later this month). Coppin State also competed in that meet.
North Carolina A&T State’s G’Jasmyne Butler (19:23.5) and Regan Kimtai (25:13.4) both won their individual races at the Greensboro Invitational. Ashley Jean-Raymond came in third in Greensboro with a 19:55.6 to help North Carolina Central’s women edge North Carolina A&T State 29-28 in points for the Div. I team win.
Bethune-Cookman’s Carlin Berryhill, the 2018 MEAC men’s cross country individual champion, was edged out by FAU’s Lachlan Shiver for individual honors at the UCF Invitational.
Berryhill’s 25:06.1 from this past weekend is the third-fastest 8K time in the MEAC this weekend – behind the 24:51.1 Norfolk State’s Meshack Kipchirchir ran at the Panorama Farms Invite over the weekend and the 25:01 the Spartans’ Evans Cheruiyot ran in that same meet.
Kipchirchir and Berryhill were named MEAC Co-Runners of the Week on the men’s side, while Butler earned the honor for the women.
Butler’s time this past weekend is currently the sixth-fastest women’s 5K time in the MEAC in 2019.
