MEAC Weekly Volleyball Notes | 2019 MEAC Statistics
This weekend will be the second slate of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball action, as teams will look to either solidify or improve their positioning in their respective division standings.
After this past weekend, Howard -- the four-time defending MEAC champion -- and Coppin State are tied atop the Northern Division standings at 2-0, while Morgan State and Delaware State are 1-1. In fact, the Hornets have already tripled their win total from 2018 (six in 2019, as opposed to two last season).
In the Southern Division, North Carolina A&T State is 2-0 after Tuesday's five-set win over rival North Carolina Central. NCCU and Bethune-Cookman are each 1-1 after the first weekend of conference play.
Morgan State's Zoe McBride was named MEAC Player of the Week, while Delaware State's Jordan Vang earned Rookie of the Week honors. North Carolina Central took the other two weekly awards, with Arlanda Faulkner earning Defensive Specialist of the Week honors and Celene Morris being named Setter of the Week.
In addition to this week's conference action, there will be two non-conference matches: Florida A&M at Presbyterian on Saturday and Bethune-Cookman at Stetson on Sunday.
