NCAT's Roberts Named STATS FCS National Freshman of the Week

North Carolina A&T State linebacker Jacob Roberts, who earlier in the day was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, picked up another honor on Monday, when he was named STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week.

Roberts made his second career start on Saturday against Howard, showing out to the tune of 15 tackles, including 10 solos, tying the FCS season high with six tackles for losses of 19 yards, including three sacks. Head coach Sam Washington called him a "one-man wrecking crew" after Roberts helped the Aggies blow out the Bison 64-6.

Earlier in the day, the STATS FCS Top 25 poll was released, with the Aggies (5-2, 3-1 MEAC) moving up to No. 16. North Carolina A&T State is also ranked No. 16 in the latest Coaches Poll.

Florida A&M moved up to No. 17 in both polls after its 24-12 win this past Saturday at Morgan State.
